Not really, the passing of time tends to leave a rather rosy glow of past events which bear no resemblance to what actually happened. People split up for a reason.

there's one I regret not approaching. A girl with the lovliest smile I had ever seen. She was just as crazy about me as I was about her. I was just to blind to tell the signs she was giving and too shy to take initiative. I still regret it to this day

Because I think we would have been good for one another; but I said stupid things, hurt her with my dumb words, and didn't think "long term" enough.
We are good friends; but we could have been much more, I think.
