I'm old and this was a very serious issue. No matter how hot it was, one absolutely did not wear white after Labor Day. The only exception was tennis shoes for athletic purposes. Now when I mention that to people, most don't even know what I'm talking about. I think one should go with the weather. If it's still very hot, keep wearing white; if not, go with different colors. Rules ingrained in us do have a hard time dying and it's difficult for me to put on a white skirt or pants after Labor Day.

In the south it is taboo to wear white shoes after labor day. As far as I know you can still wear white clothing. Winter White becomes the rage after Labor Day.

Uh, me. I don't generally wear a lot of white, but almost all of my shoes have white on them, and I layer with white long-sleeve shirts a lot.

I do.
I don't know why there was ever a rule to not wear it. I'm glad that we don't have to conform any longer.
