It takes patience and determination.

One of the most important things for writers to do, in my opinion, is to read a lot. Is there a particular genre that your novel is going to be in? Try and read everything that you can in that genre. There are also a ton of interesting books out there about writing itself that could really give you ideas of what direction to go in (I'm starting to feel repetitive always recommending these, but Writing Down the Bones by Natalie Goldberg and Bird By Bird by Anne Lamott are amazing).

If you want to write a book, you can do it! You just have to sit down and start writing. Don't worry if it sounds awful on your first draft-- just get the story down on paper. Then you can edit all the parts that don't seem right to you. First drafts are almost never very good, and that's just fine!

Good luck! Enjoy the process!

Basically, a book or novel is just an expanded short story. Both have to have characters and a plot. If your short stories all involve the same characters, perhaps you have subconsciously been writing a book.
Try putting the stories in order, like chapters, and see if there is a common thread running through them. Then see if you can figure out what should be in the 'missing' chapters.
Good luck with it!

It may, and it may not. I know that I had writer's block for the longest time (i'm also 16, but hey, I've got an imagination too!!) One thing I did and still do is keep a journal and regularly (at a set time) i make sure to write down a sentence or two that comes to mind. Over a period of time, you will see connections in the stories and see something that you want to add to your plot. Good luck with your writing! I'm sure it will turn out fantastically!

Jann Martel wrote in the intro to Life of Pi that he wrote an entire novel and then threw it out because it did not have "life". So you as well may write a novel and then be dissatisfied with it. Give it your best. Good Luck.
