The all-time highest scoring defencemen in NHL history is Ray Bourque. He finished his career with 410 goals and 1169 assists for a combined total of 1579 points in 1612 career games. Paul Coffey is seccond only 48 points behind with 1531 points in 1409 career games. Many people feel that if Bobby Orr hadn't been forced to retire early due to injury that he would have easily been the leader, because he averaged around 1.4 points per game in his career. That is almost one and a half times Bourque's .98 points per game.

Ray Bourque is the highest scoring defenseman!
While I am happy he won a stanley cup,I still feel he sort of won it by default........!
I mean really...I can't win it with Boston,so I am going to go to a better team and win it with them!
Just feels kind of cheezy to me.....
By the way,Bobboy Orr would have been the greatest player ever in the NHL....not just the highest scoring defenseman,if his knees held out!
The guy had 4 or 5 operations before he even made the NHL!
