Is anyone else sad from hearing the news about Steve Irwin?
I heard it at 7:30am (uk time) this morning and it made the hairs on the back of my neck stand on end, I was gob smacked and have been thinking about it for most of the day...I really can't believe it.

THE WORLD HAS LOST SUCH A SPECIAL, FUN LOVING AND CARING GUY!!
HE BROUGHT SO MUCH INSPIRATION TO ALL WHO KNEW HIM AND TAUGHT THE WORLD SO MUCH ABOUT THE BEAUTY OF THE ANIMAL KINGDOM.
MY SINCERE CONDOLENCES GO OUT TO HIS FAMILY AND FRIENDS.
I’m Free
Don’t grieve for me, for now I’m free,
I’m following the path God laid for me.
I took His hand when I heard him call,
I turned my back and left it all.
I could not stay another day,
to laugh, to love, to work or play;
Tasks left undone must stay that way.
If my parting has left a void,
Then fill it with remembered joy.
A friendship shared, a laugh, a kiss,
Ah yes, these things too I will miss.
Be not burdened with times of sorrow,
I wish you the sunshine of tomorrow.
My life’s been full, I’ve savoured much.
Good friends, good times, a loved ones touch.
Perhaps my time seemed all too brief,
Don’t lengthen it now with undue grief.
Lift up your hearts and share with me,
I’m with God now, I’ve been set free.
SADLY GOING TO BE MISSED BY LITTLE_HEN AND FAMILY.
REST IN ETERNAL PEACE STEVE. XXXX

Yes we have all heard. What I find surprising is that there have been so many questions about this sad event, and almost nothing about the deaths of British Forces personnel who have been killed in Afghanistan and elsewhere. 14 men died in the Nimrod crash. 14 families or more, distraught. This 'gob smacked' me and made the hair rise on the back of my neck. Perhaps we should get things into proportion.

Yeh, I just sat back in the chair in total shock when I saw it on the news and, like you, I have been thinking about it all day. You know when you hear of someone famous dying, it's sad but this was a real shocker, although I suppose there is some comfort in thinking that he died doing what he loved.
My love goes out to his family.
RIP, a great entertainer

I adored Steve Irwin. He was a truly great human whos enthusiasm and love for all animals shone through him. He was a straight talking, no nonsense guy who will be sorely missed.
God Bless Terri and their 2 beautiful kids.
Rest in Peace Steve. Crikey!

wow, you really liked him, i woke up early in pacific time when 9/11 happened, at the time that the 2nd airplane hit the towers.. it was so weird, i went out into the living room, and turned on the news for some reason.. i didn't think much of it though, since i didn't know what the world trade centers were.. and went to school, and had a day of watching the news and stuff.. kind of like you, but different.. spooky

Yes, feel sad that he died under such unusual circumstances but I am sure this was the way he was destined to go, doing a job be was passionate about and lived for. Feel sorry for his wife and children, a real shock for them. Wonder if his children know yet as I heard that his wife was on a solo trekking journey somewhere obscure and it took a while for the sad news to get to her.

He should have left nature alone. What gave him the right to jump on crocodiles and tie their mouths shut? Its cruel and jst plain wrong. Im not too sad really. Sad for his wife and children who have lost a husband and father really because anything like that is devestating but not sad that he has left behind the job he was doing cause I really didn't agree with what he did at all.
