No they aren't.
Women involved in politics tend to have a keen sense of fairness and insight into issues from many angles that men don't always pick up on.
With that said, men sometimes think that women aren't good at politics simply because some men believe in the 'bantering' type style of debating. You know... the who can talk over the other guy more wins thing.
Women tend to not want to even go there. I know when that happens to me, I just politely remain quite and then say, "Are you done?" If I begin to speak and they do it again, I end the debate.
It is not that I lost or am weak. It is that gets nowhere, proves nothing and quite frankly is just too neanderthal for me.
You see that crap all the time on political shows.. that btw, I don't watch any longer for that reason.

I don't think it has to do with intelligence, it has to do with interest. Statistically, men are more intuned to politics than women. Hence, the minority of women in congress. I think many of the women who are in political leadership positions are quit capable.. At least they are not full of steroids and want to go out to war at the first chance. I am not saying I agree with Condolessa. But you have to admit, she is no dumb cookie. Maybe a little too sly. Not sure I trust her. I like the way that many women in politics have a real heart for the people. School programs, mediCal program, etc. Perhaps the nuturing comes into play.. Too bad we can't just take the strong points of each gender and work together. What a great balance that would be eh? P.S. I didn't used to be interested in politics, but I definately am now The future of our world is too precarious not to be aware.

No, the Old Boys' Club is alive and well. In politics and business, more deals are made on a golf course than boardroom, and women just don't get invited out on the weekend with the boys.

In my experience, people are good at what they are interested in.
*As a group,* I find that men tend to be more wrapped up in one thing to the expense of others - hobbies, sports, philosophical problems, and making things go boom. It takes us guys some maturity to put aside our self-absorption and deal with reality.
*As a group,* my experience with women is that they tend to be better at keeping track of things in their environment. They are better multi-taskers, in general, than men. By and large, though, they don't seem to be interested in power, the way that men are.
I can't help but think that part (and only one part, it'd be foolish to declare that there's only one reason why half the human race seems to act a certain way) of why men are fascinated by the exercise of political power, and woman, typically, not, lies in this propensity in men to get obsessed with great schemes and grandiose plans.
Heck, it's just like some guy becoming a computer nerd, or getting caught up in rebuilding late-Sixties Mustangs. We don't care what we do, really, so much as that we are good at what we do.
And your freinds, I think, would be best advised to listen closer to their women-folk. There is nothing wrong with their smarts at all, in fact I think it is wise to listen to a woman's counsel; they see things I don't.
I have to repeat it: women have all the brains necessary to exercise power as men do. They just don't seem interested in exercising power, as men do. *That's* the question here.
However, when they *are* interested in power - watch out! Margaret Thatcher, Elizabeth I, Boadicea... just taken from one country - England. Formidable rulers all.

Let me ask you this? Is your mother stupid? There are some very bright women in politics, and there are some absolute morons. This rule also holds true for men. People are people. When you grow up, you will realize this.

No. Politics is considered a 'man's job', hence the sytem is weighted against women, and fewer women pursue a career in politics because they believe they won't get far. It's a vicious circle.

Studies show that women are better at just about everything.
Look at the prison system less than 2 % women.
Women make better crooks. So they would definitely make better politicians.
