Tough call between Blackpool and Alton Towers.
Blackpool has soo many historic rides there and is beautiful right on the ocean.
But if you like variety, shows, and some amazing new rides, I'd have to say Alton Towers. Air, Nemesis, and the wonderful landscaping at Alton Towers make that the best theme park in the UK.

It doesn't strictly answer your question, but you could get the Eurostar from London or Ashford, Kent and go to Eurodisney. I believe they run a through train.
