It's sad that he had to die, but I can't say I'm that surprised. I mean, the guy was always around dangerous animals. It was only a matter of time. If only he had thought of his family instead of his own pursuits, his children would still have a father.
His work didn't really have an impact on me. Before him, I stayed away from crocodiles. After his shows ran on the air, I stayed away from crocodiles. Now that he's dead, I'm staying away from crocodiles...and stingrays.

With an attitude like that no wonder you people are at such low levels.
Steve Irwin was a great person. He helped animals...he was good for kids. He taught us something! He was a great influence!
I will remember him as the guy who would do what he felt was right even if he was criticized!!! And he died doing something he loved! I don't see why people are shocked, he would have never been killed by an alligator or crocodile, the water was where he was no expert. But he died by an animal. If that was my line of work, I would want to die doing something I loved to do as well.
RIP STEVE IRWIN! I don't care what you people say he was an icon, he will be truly missed

When I first saw Steve Irwin, I thought he was a Paul Hogan wannabe. I thought that this was some crazy Aussie that watched Crocodile Dundee too many times. As I started watching his shows, I came to realize that he was genuinely passionate about what he did. He grew up having direct contact with the wild, and he loved every second of it. It was almost unavoidable that he would die as a result of an animal attack. It was simply a matter of when and how.
God Bless the Irwin's

You are just an uncompassionate jackass clown. Steve Irwin was much more than just a Crocodile Hunter. He was a loving husband, father, animal activist, conservationists and a wonderful human being who cared about both people and animals alike. He stood for something which is more than I can say for you, you gutless turd. I bet you wouldn't have the nerve to say that to his wife and kids would you. Of course not, because you are just a piece a crap who talks a lot crap behind a computer. However, don't worry. I'm sure Steve Irwin would love you anyway because you are truly a jackass and everybody knows he loved all animals. Even jackasses like you. Hee haw. Hee haw. Hee haw.

Police have been examining footage of the incident which shows Irwin swimming above the stingray when it lashes out at him. He can then be seen pulling the serrated barb out of his chest before losing consciousness.
Irwin, 44, became famous around the world for his conservationist work and for death-defying close work with dangerous animals, notably crocodiles.
His family is considering releasing the footage of the fatal incident to the public.
Stingrays can deliver horrific, agonising injuries but deaths from the barbs are extremely rare. Irwin's death was only the third known death from the creatures in Australian history.
Police viewing the footage say there is no evidence Irwin had been intimidating the stingray before it struck. He was merely observing the creature.

Steve Irwin was a human being who lived his life for the love of all living things!Somone as ignorant as you would only make comments without knowing what the man did for his beloved country. Millions of people are mourning for a man who did more than a average person could do in two lifetimes conserving our wildlife. Those so called retarded animals you ignorantly put, are a part of the mother nature that God gave us to respect. His Wife and children will never be able to hold him again. How dare you be a cold hearted jerk to his family at thier time of mourning!I send my condolences to his Wife and children!

You are a BIG idiot who doesn't even know how respect someone. Stece Irwin is a doing something great by educating everyone around the world about the wildlife. For your information, he wasn't trying to get himself killed. If you thinks animals are retarded, then I shall tell you that you are worst than an animal.

I've worked with many different types of people who have passion and have dangerous jobs...but Steve Irwin was a "croc hunter" not a marine biologist. It was an unfortunate mistake he made and it cost him his life. He should not have tried to keep raising the danger bar on stuff he did not know about. May he rest in peace...
