Try "Bright Lights Big City", disturbing look at what cocaine was like in the 80's and its effect on otherwise decent people, stars Michael J Fox. Careful it's depressing.

Requiem for a Dream-- It's sad yet it really shows what drugs are like. I loved the movie.
Fear and Loathing in Las Vegas-- Raoul Duke and Dr. Gonzo go on a crazy ride through Las Vegas while on all sorts of drugs. It can be really, really funny. Then you think about it, and you realize that these guys are serious. It's based on the book by Hunter S. Thompson. This is one of my all time favorite movies.
Blow-- It's an amazing movie, and it's very sad. It's about a guy who works his way up from selling pot to selling cocaine while making plenty of money. I'm not sure, but I think the guy was known as one of the greatest drug dealers ever... Anyway, it shows what his life like not only in the drug world, but at home too. I can't believe how bad this guy's life ended up being. It's an awesome movie to watch.
Half-Baked-- This one is funny. I mean, really, REALLY funny. It's about 3 stoners who have to get their other stoner friend out of jail. It has David Chapelle in it. I absolutely love this movie. It's one of my favorite comedies.
I've seen all of these movies a few times, so they're pretty good.

"The Basketball Diaries" with Leonardo DiCaprio is a great movie! That movie takes you through almost every aspect of how drugs can take over your life, and it's so realistic when he is going through withdrawl. It's fantastic!
"When A Man Loves A Woman" is great as well! That's a great movie about alcohol addiction because it shows you how a child would suffer through a parent going through an addiction.

Requiem for a Dream- Pills and heroin offer fulfillment of the dreams of four residents of Brooklyn's Brighton Beach in the shadow of a crumbling Coney Island amusement park.
It's a realistic take on drugs and addiction that's why I chose it
