I need some advice - I want to go to Boston University for Hospitality management and be the manager of a successful hotel, but is this a good thing to want to do? I mean, is this setting my sights high enough? I am an honor roll student and want to have the best career that I can.

Boston University Is a very good School, And Hospitality management is not easy, it is very demanding. I don't think you are setting your sights low, what you aim for is what you will get out of it, and it will be what you put into it.
Honor roll or not, do what you want, don't let others bring you to their level, especially if it is lower or less than what you feel you can achive.

Being a hotel manager is not the best paying job. It does not require a whole lot of intelligence. It does require a lot of time on the job, maybe 80 hours per week, maybe you'll have to work seven days.
Management jobs seem to have some prestige. However, 90% of just about any business takes care of itself. The manager has to deal with the 10% of activities that are problems.
If you are very intelligent and if you are good at your studies, consider doing something in science or engineering. You may be able to solve problems that better the lives of many people.

you have to ask yourself... one do i want to become well off... two ,,do i prefer to make less money and be happy with my job// or three is this something i would like to do temporarily..as a stepping stone to more lucrative position. also you did not state your age.. this is a good job..for someone that is in the later yrs...after having a full career. however if you are young there is time for this and many more jobs in the future. the training cannot hurt and some hotels in the right location can pay well. you meet people,,, as an honor roll student... you can always reach higher..down the road. only you can answer this question really after weighing all the above. good luck

The average person changes their career 5-7 times in their lifetime. I started out in the sciences as a Teacher then applied for a Quality Control Supervisor job. I later moved to Production Management. Now I am in Marketing and Sales. At this point I am considering opening my own company.
Your name "Funkybabes" indicate that you are outgoing. A career in Hospitality Management will therefore be ideal for you. Go fo it! You may find that you will want to change career later in life. Whatever your decision, make sure that you enjoy what you do. In that way work becomes fun. All the best!

Very Gravy position. I had upper level college grads that did nothing but laugh and joke all night long as I bust my tail on dishes when I was a teenager. Even though that is not what I do now that I am out of college I think that it will be a great job.

go to college, get the required classes under your belt first. you may change your mind on a major, but that's okay.
also, there are tests you can take on the Internet to see what talents you have and for what you are best suited for.
congrats on honor roll status.

ANYTHING can be a good field. Its all what you decide to make of it.

Don't even think about getting into something you don't like just because of perceived prestige.

Honey do what makes you happy, follow your heart. There are more important things in life than money. Being happy in with your choice is much more important than making allot of money at it.
