they are. employees can choose to work labour day fr extra money, and they'll get another holiday in place of it. grocery stores are open on christmas, so its the same idea.

Because, they're laboring on Labor Day. Someone has to make the bucks to try and prop up a faltering economy. Besides, those places seldom close.

It's one of the best shopping days of the year. Everyone else has the day off and is going shopping! Why would they want to lose all the business?
