.Hi
You don't say what type of engine is involved.... Try removing the air filter and see what happens. Good luck

I think from the sounds of the choke being on and the motor running for a few, It needs the carb cleaned real well. Also check the air filter for excess dirt. Once these are both clean I would think it would run just fine.... Might want to make sure you have fresh fuel in the tank and if there is a filter in the tank check it too.

All of the above answers should be done. Also, get your mower serviced at least once a year. It is not that expensive. I think I paid less that $50 last time I had it done.

Same as the last answer..... deal with alot of these myself.... choking it to keep it running means a carb cleaning (get a rebuild kit, parts gaskets, etc. for it.....) and tear it apart, soak it in a bath type carb cleaner for a few hours to a day... and blow every single hole out with compressed air....

IF you see pitting and what looks like corrosion.... stop and replace the carb.

I agree with the first answer, sounds like a dirty air filter.

check your air fillter then your gas fillter sounds like one of them is clogged also check the sparkplug if it is none of these then it needs a carb kit good luck
