I really want one.

I'll let you in on a little secret now. I already have one, and it's not real. I love it just the same though. I would never break the bank for real when you can get a faux one that looks just as good. My wedding ring is only a 1/4 carat and I wouldn't have it any other way.
Just wanted to know opionions. Thanks.

If he can afford it, you can demand it. You go girl! If he wanted a 10th anniversary truck he wouldn't flinch at the price.

I don't know but my man has some opinions. He says:

4 carat only represents the size (pretty huge huh?!) but not the quality, you could get a cheap Indian gem that's 4 carat but it'd be sub-standard.

Who wants a diamond that big anyway? OK, so I agree with you here that the bigger the better, lol, but as he says it'd look silly most of the time, unless you've got really huge hands it'll make them look ridiculous and if you do have really huge hands why do you want to draw attention to them anyway?!

The expense! To get a 4 carat diamond that's really worth having would cost you both arms and a leg, it seems way too extravagant and is only really considered by reality TV wannabes and chavs with high aspirations.

You know what I think? Get your husband to buy you a one or two carat diamond, a really good quality one, which would look just amazing and be the envy of every woman you meet. Spend the remainder either on him (in which case there'll prob be another question on here, haha!) or use it for a holiday together or some other really special ocassion where you can make happy and lasting memories. Ahh.

Good luck. If he does buy you one and things don't work out send him my way, I'd LOVE an enormous diamond and would make a point of wearing it to do the washing up, bath the dog, etc.!

well if you dont care about the clarity. but man 4 carats gold digger just stands out but im not privy to the whole situation. i would say yeah to much for 4 carats. that big of a rock will look super gaudy on a slender hand. get a 1/2 carat flawless in a nice setting that fits your hand not just i want a big diamond.

I quess it would depend on the reason you think you need something like that. Personally, it seems a bit of an immature request at this point, but I don't know what your marriage means to you. I'm nearing my 7th year of marriage, 2nd time around, and I realize that the most precious thing that I have is my family at the end of the day. Possessions come and they go, but your husband and family should be your biggest assets. Flaunt that, not a ring.

If you know that the cost will break the bank, then yes it's to much to ask for. In fact it's a little selfish. What is he getting that would cost anywhere near the same?

Not really, if you guys can afford it.
I want a 2 carat ring for our 5 year anniversary and my husband knows it and I will get it.

As long as you don't hinder your family finances..

You spend 10 years with someone,,then you deserve a 100 carat ring,,just think of how many day, hours, minutes, etc. that is...doing all those mother, wife things,,you deserve whatever your heart desires for that kind of commitment,,

Yes. In addition, you will find that it is uncomfortable to wear. One friend was a jeweler who kept getting his wife bigger diamonds. Finally, she got him to give up the show and let her have a 2 caret stone, which was as large as she could comfortably wear.

Go for it! I would try a subtle approach though like saying how much you like this certain ring when passing by the jewelery store.

In my book you would get a drive through mcdonalds and a knee trembler in the nearest alley then home while I went out to party :)
