It is truely a tragedy,m but a neccessary evil. I would love to stay home all day and love my wife, and unborn child but I can't. You have to work to get what you want.-

It *IS* stupid... I remember growing up that everybody had to work, but it wasn't the end-all and be-all of their existence.
While money is extremely important, you just have to remind yourself to not let everything revolve around it. Taking time out to spend with friends and relatives helps. Occasionaly volunteering can help put things in perspective too.
For entertainment, try activites that don't require much money, like reading a book you've had sitting on the shelf, or a trip to the beach (well you have to eat, but compared to attending a concert or movie etc- you get the idea)
Boardgames are also good- purchase them once, and you have many afternoons of fun without having to pay admission every time :)

as crass as it seems money is the key to happiness, the only people who say money isn't important are people who have lots of it. theres people with kids paying a mortgage being ripped off and working more or less for the bank for the rest their lives, i reckon they would happily swap lives with bill gates even for a day.

Money is stored work. If you want someone to do something for you (like grow food or build a house) then you need to do something for them. Since doing something directly for them is probably not practical, money works fine.

DOES IT ? Ever seen a live elephant bothering about a pay cheque ? We walk breathe, talk and make love without cash..
Perhaps you don't really mean "Life".
Could you mean something like belonging to 'the comfortable ones '?

Well I guess if life revolved around hope and dreams, we'd all be rich, therefore all unhappy, because we wouldn't be able to be better than others, which is what we all truly want.

Hey Helen,
It's what we value!
Sadly, sometimes it's all some people can use to gauge success
