Unless there is an independent source of relevant information about what happened... it may come down to a judgement call based on how well you know the two people.

See if this will help. The prophet Solomon had two women that both appeared before him claiming that both of them were the mother of a baby. The prophet was faced with a dilemma. How would he be able to decide who the real mother was?
However, he was famous far and wide for his wisdom so he ordered that the child be cut in half and that a half be given to the women who claimed to be the mother. The older lady said, “yes, it’s ok. Divide the child in half and give me my share.”
But the younger of the two cried, “No, please don’t harm the baby. I give up all claims to the child. Please give the infant to the other lady.”
He, in his wisdom, then knew that the mother of the child was the on that was willing to give up the claims to the child.
I don't know what your dilemma is, but use some form of logic to sort out the truth and you will find it.

Ask yourself these questions? If you answer yes. Then yes they are lying.
1) Is the person looking directly at the other?
2) Are they smirking while they talk?
3) Does there answer change?

Probably both are lying, human nature being what it is. Consider what motives they have to lie, and that themay have different viewpoints that could account for some of the differences.

if they look down, figget, or sneeze or avoid eye contact during the time they tell you, they are lying. The movements I just discribed are the body's way of working off nervous energy during a lie.

well, for one you should pay attention to body language. people who lie usually avoid eye contact, perspire, are fidgety, their facial muscles are tense and they dont stand too straight. some liers are good at getting past these signs but for me, i can usually tell from tone of voice-which goes a bit lower then normal and how much eye contact they make.

Has either one of them ever lied to you before? Or to anyone else that you know of? A liar is a liar. Believe the one who doesn't lie. If they both lie, then you have a problem? lol
