I know some things about this story, but havent found the original source where I first heard it, or secondary ones. Have you heard of it? I'm ommiting some detail for simplicity and lack of certainty. A princess or queen is saved by a monk that lived in Castle Forchtenstein after the monk was given a cross by one of Jesus disciples which he used to send her betrothed to hell, for he was the devil himself, or one of his minions. Her betrothed or husband before the devil or demon took his place was killed in battle. What do you know about this story?

I'm sorry, I meant one of Jesus' Apostles.

I found only a vague reference on this link:

(Matthew or "Monk" Lewis wrote a Gothic novel in 1795 called "Ambrosio, or the Monk". A devout monk falls for the passion of a young noblewoman and goes from crime to crime until he is discovered and condemned to death by the Inquisition. Supposedly following the example of the young woman - actually a demon in disguise - he bargains with Lucifer for release. The devil "releases" him in a desert waste. Ambrosio enrages him by a gesture of repentance, and the devil dashes him to pieces against the rocks.)

I couldn't find anything on the internet. You may like to ask at your library.

Whaaaat? This sounds fantastic. I've never heard of it, but now I'm curious too. Makes me wonder where Matthew Lewis got his idea for his novel from...hmm...

Naw, don't believe it. If it were true the story would be told in the history of Castle Forchtenstein.
It's not.
