My friend in Italy has been offered a traineeship with a company in Canary Wharf area of London. They have just found out that accommodation is not provided by the employer, and need to start in less than 4 weeks time. They are not wealthy enough to stay in expensive places. They are willing to commute from anywhere in greater london. Thank you for any intelligent advice you may offer.

As Canary Ward is located in the re-generated docklands, I would advise sticking to East London as you will find the cheapest accomodation there - focus on areas close to the DLR (District Light Railway), the tube line that connects the Canary Wharf busineses district with the financial district of the Square Mile in Central London.

The best website to use is www.findaproperty.com - that's what I have used when searching for student accomodation and search in the postcodes starting in the letter 'E', for example E1 such as around Shadwell / Limehouse. Anything in the vicinity of the Isle of Dogs which is where Canary Wharf is located, will have a postcode beginning so.

Also try looking south of the river where the postcodes begin 'SE', for very cheap, although not particularly attractive, look in Bermondsey and Canada Water.

Avoid any postcodes starting in W and NW as these tend to be the more expensive areas of London, although often you can find ex-local authority housing estate apartments for rent which are cheap in such areas, i.e. old council apartments kept affordable by the government so as to prevent the expulsion of lower-income families.

Most obviously STAY OUT OF CENTRAL LONDON FOR AFFORDABLE HOUSING, but remember that by Italian standards, or anybody else's standards, anywhere in London will be expensive for what you're getting.

I believe AA. there's no way they gets something everywhere close to London, not to point crucial London, for below £500 a month. this is impossible. Even people who take in lodgers are possibly to cost greater beneficial than that as abode expenses are so extreme they'll could desire to cost in some distance greater beneficial than that to disguise their sky extreme mortgages. i be responsive to a pair Australians who got here around right here and initially stayed in hostels until eventually they have been given themselves taken care of with jobs. definite, it is not maximum suitable however the funds you point out is so low they even have not got an option.
