While the song played is called "Suicide Is Painless" the instrumental version was only used for the TV series. The song with the lyrics sung appears in the opening credits of the original "M*A*S*H" movie with Elliot Gould and Donald Sutherland. Also, I know of only one episide of the TV series that featured the song sung with the lyrics. I don't remember the title of the episode but it was sung at one point in the show by an extra playing the guitar with B.J. and Hawkeye standing nearby. I'm not sure but I think they called the extra "Guitar John".
