We'd like to think we have freedom of choice when it comes to what we wear and things like that. However, with ads and magazines constantly telling us this or that is a must-have, an essential or something to die for, do we really choose our clothes because we like them or are we manipulated into liking that look by some clever brainwashing scheme?

Freedom is what you choose to make it. We can say we are free but we are not. I do not know how old you are, but have you or someone you know said, when I am grown I will be free, only to discover their greatest chance of freedom was while they WERE a child. You are NEVER free from bills, and work, and problems. You NEVER get to choose to NOT pay those bills, not work, or NOT have problems. You go from one kind of a prison to another.

Personally, I believe it is the "grass is always greener on the other side" syndrome. We always think it is better in another situation, and we blame others for our imprisionment...bad marriage, bad home life, bad job, bad parents, bad school..will be better when I change...then it is just another BAD XXXXX something.

We can allow the advertising to trick us into believing we are free to choose their products, but their reasoning is what is so strange......because everyone else is doing it? NO, that is not freedom.

REAL freedom comes from within and in knowing when to choose certain things, at certain times which really DO make an impact for the betterment of self or others. Mostly, freedom is found in doing good deeds. Self dies when others are served, freeing us from serving self, which is the hardest JOB in the world, seeing we are NEVER EVER satisified.

I see your point, but we do have a free choice which is a great thing. Manipulation is one thing but forced manipulation is somthing totaly different.
Personaly i see us lossing our freedoms, what with alll this c.c.t.v and data collection buy multi national companies and government bodies. I would rather have the freedoms we do have though than being tourcherd for what im not doing or what i choose to do, as long as it is no harm to anyone else...
There is a lot of propergenda on the t.v and in the media though and people are foolish enough for it to controll there ways of life which is really sad, especialy after the social revolutons of the 60's 70's and 80's and gaining freedoms that shouls be our right as human being to have anyway. All we need is a nation of free thinkers now.

True 100% freedom is anarchy. You cannot trust humans to behave with no rules. They don't behave with rules.

We have the balance about right between freedom and laws. Anyone claiming we are not free is more than likely a left wing student who has just read some philosophy books and now fancies himself a bit of a deep thinker.

Being free from consumerism is a personal choice. If you succumb to buying what the TV tells you then that is a form of evolution. Idiots will weed themselves out in due course.

Is their real freedom on the world? Look up original rights of freedoms. Then read all amendments that changed those. Yes we do have more freedoms than many countries, but in reality how much? They are slowly one amendment at a time changing that. Just my opinion, Have a really good one:-)

Freedom is hard to find on this earth, we're all subjected to laws and rules, so real freedom is not out there, but if I had to give an answer to this I would say, the country which has the most freedom of speach (which is obviously not the usa)

Remember that you are not you, you are all that have been before you, that is culturally and genetically. The decisions you make or your behavior is influenced by your ancestors, of course depending on your amount of awareness you could partially override this.
