i think children because they have not yet learned to stop dreaming big. we learn that as adults after many failures in life.

On first though, I'd say children. But then I consider the kinds of things that so many adults believe in and I have to think again.

I'd say they're about even, but that the fanciful thoughts of adults can cause far more damage than the fanciful thoughts of children.

Children and creative adults. Most adults have been disciplined to do what's expected of them or what will be "productive" rather than to have fanciful thoughts.

Children have a wider and adventurous minds. Their minds are not distorted by society. When parents teach them good values and the difference between right and wrong, that's the way they see it. It's like they don't see the grey area in between where we get lost in a million "would ifs" ya know?

From my own experience I'd say that they're equally given to them. Its just that as adults we have more experience and ability to recognize them as unworkable so are less likely to act upon them.
