I too studied animal care and went on to study zookeeping through Tafe in sydney. The course was held every week at Taronga and we did regular trips to Dubbo where we worked behind the scenes.
Steve Irwin lived the life that i had always dreamed since i was a small child. I have worked in a number of zoos, wildlife parks and aquariums throughout Australias East coast over the last 14 years.
It was seeing what Steve was able to create and the differences that he made in everyday lives that touched me to work towards my own goals of wildlife conservation. Even though i believe the roles of zoos are vital in saving remaining species, I started to consider that maybe i could do even more for animal conservation.
I am currently raising funds through my other ventures and look to be able to make some real contributions to the preservation of wildlife and wildlife habitats throughout the world.
Steve has showed us all that one man can indeed make a difference in making a better world for both us and our animal friends.
I now live on the Sunshine Coast in Queensland and am a regular visitor to the Australia Zoo with my family. If Steve doesnt get you inspired to get out and have a go at making a better world, then i believe nothing can.
I have to say when i heard the news I was very upset and tears flowed quite freely ...... but we should remember that Steve would want us all to get up off our backsides and contribute in our own way to helping save the wildlife and their habitats of this planet.
Feel free to contact me inspired one!!

Dear God the news was almost unbearable and unbelievable, there has been many a person that have tried to copy him, but no one will ever come close to his love of life and ALL creatures. It's people like him that make this world seem a hell of a lot better and encourage all of us in all different walks of life. I bet the man upstairs is having a blast with Steve, I'm sure there is laughter that can be heard all over heaven!! I do wish the very best for his family. I just hope that God will give his wife the strength to go on, and that she will never let the children forget that their father was truly a great man among men!!!!!!

I have been lucky enough to work with Steve over the years and this has come as a great shock to us. He was always so full of life it is hard to imagine him gone and it isn't really sinking in, it just seems too unreal. Nobody embraced life like he did, it's hard to imagine that could be snatched away from him. He was an amazing man and what you saw was what you got. Many people criticised some of his behaviour at times, but his children and animals were everything to him and not ever were they in danger. sadly like many of us he sometimes acted before thinking, not really taking into consideration how the media may interpret what to them was day to day life. To those of you who criticised his work it is clear to me that you have never known him or been behind the scenes of his great work, and I encourage you to visit the zoo and in particular the wildlife hospital he built in memory of his mother to complete her dream. We treated hundreds of animals per week which without him would never of stood a chance, he made sure they had nothing but the best equipment and treatment possible. He inspired so much in so many people and I encourage everyone to keep up the good fight he started!!!!
Forget flower tributes- he would much rather a donation to "The Wildlife Warriors"
You will be in our hearts forever Steve.

I thought Steve Irwin was a bit wacky but I realized that he was doing it for the kids and making it fun while he was doing it. I think he was a wonderful person and it is a sad day in Australian history that we have lost such a good man who was not only a family man but one dedicated to conservation. I am sadened by his families loss. I suppose if I were to die I would rather die doing what I love and that is how I see Steve Irwin and his death.

He was very entertaining, with lots of enthusiam and a great passion for what he did. He loved animals of all kinds. He also cared a great deal about educating the world not only about the different animals but also the dangers each animal species faced in the wild. He wanted to help preserve endangered species.
Mini biography
Steve Irwin was born in 1962 to parents Lyn and Bob Irwin, who were animal naturalists. He has shared the love for animals all his life, stemming from being raised at the Queensland Reptile and Fauna Park. There, he partook in daily duties of animal feeding and care. He quickly established himself with the Queenland's government on the process of the country's Crocodile Relocation Program, in which the reptiles could be transferred and relocated to proper localties in the most absolute humane, non-tranquilizing manner. He frequently implements the non-tranquilizing factor in his televison show "Croc Files" (1999). To date, Steve can claim that he has never been bitten by a venomous snake, despite his bare-hand handling of some of the most deadliest snakes in the world. Steve has been married to fellow naturalist, Terri Irwin (Baines) since 1992. She joins him in his adventures and efforts in almost every episode of his show. They have one daughter Bindi Sue Irwin who was born July 24, 1998.

I am basically an animal lover and I been following Steve's shows back home in Singapore for so many many years. I watched him every night at 2am on animal planet. The passion he has for animals amazed me and captured me all these years. The strangest part about it is that animals know when you don't mean any harm to them. It is a real freak way to die especially killed by such a gentle creature like the stingray.
Steve has been my hero all these years and never failed to put a smile on my face when I was watching his shows. loving the reptile world as I do, Steve has brought me so much closer to them and all other animals, that animals around me can sense that and hang out with me when they are around me. For example, when I am at the beach where the dogs run free. They will all come sit or rest beside me while I am sun tanning while their owners frantically look for them round the beach. I never realized it till one owner asked me, 'How come my dog keeps coming around to sit with u? Are u feeding him any treats?' my reply was, 'nope, don't have anything to give them but just my company.' which made me realize that how well an animal can pick up your love for them.
Which I saw so much in Steve. He will always be my hero and educator. Will be missing him lots, missing all that passion he has for animals and life! Good on you mate!
Cheers! Steve!
P.S.
I moved to the gold coast not too long ago from Singapore and I have been planning a trip to go to Steve's Zoo to catch him life in action, hmmm, well I guess I missed that chance...... :(

The death of Steve Irwin has shocked the nation. I still cant believe he has passed away. Steve (THE LEGEND) was a very brave man, that's how he inspired me. As part of his job he faced death everyday, whether it was hunting crocodiles or coming face to face with other deadly creatures. We always watched his documentaries in amazement. I don't think there ever will be anyone as brave as Steve. He died doing what he loved most. He will continue to live in our hearts. We will miss him very much.
