I'd like to go with The Maids or Merry Maids because they are large companies that have good reputations and are fully bonded and insured. Has anyone ever used either or both? I know they are priced comparably. Good experiences? Bad experiences?

My mom uses Molly maids and she likes them. The main thing is that they are boned and insured. Remember that any of these cleaning services are franchises, therefore owned locally. Good luck on your selection.

The best way to find a good maid/cleaning service is to ask around locally. We found ours through a word-of-mouth recommendation over 10 years ago and we've been very happy with them. Otherwise, a large company is a safe way to go. Or, you can check with the Better Business Bureau for company information.

Merry Maids seem to be real good and very thorough.

both are franchises that are ran by managers or team leaders, not the owner. they usually hire minimum wage workers that hop from job to job. if you try either expect to pay a high price for the first visit. this visit is a through cleaning to get your house in an up-keep condition. subsequent visits target one or two areas of your home that they alternate by visit. like any business you have good workers and bad workers. you may get excellent service on a visit and terrible service the next. one of the things about their service is they bring their own vacuum. a vacuum that has been used in every home they clean. it's bad enough living with the dust and smells of my home without having someone bring them in from someone else's home. there are probably individuals in you town that clean homes. interview some of them and ask for references. it is an extra benefit if they use a Rainbow vacuum.
