Has anyone ever heard of this organization? It would have existed around 1910-1930 or 1940 in Shannon County MO. I'm thinking they were vigilantes....

The Underground Railroad, it was used to free slaves.
Vigilantes would help slaves hide, usually in the walls of homes, in dirt room dug under houses or anywhere the authority's could not look & find them.
Hope this helps.

Possibly, or part of the KKK. In the 1830's-50's it referred to the safe houses to get blacks up to the north and out of slavery prior to the Civil War, which began about 10 years later.
