Or subtended? My stupid trig book uses this and please don't give me the dictionary term. Explain it in your comprehensive words. Also explain this quote from the book "One radian is the measure of the central angle of a circle SUBTENDED by an arc equal in length of the radius of the circle"

ok then isnt the angle ALWAYS subtended by an arc?

join the two ends of the arc to the centre.the angle included by these radii will be the angle subtended by the arc
suppose you have an arc AB ,part of a circle with centre O
join AO and BO
angle AOB is the angle subtended by the arc AB

Subtended just refers to the relationship between arc length and interior angle. If you travel a certain distance along a circle, then draw a radius from where you stop to the center, you'll form a central angle of some measure. This is the subtended angle for that arc length.

Define Subtend

Subtended means the same as comprehended. Radian it´s a name invented that is the arc that opens a section in the circumference that has the length equals to the radius. A radian has approximately 57 degrees and 18 minutes of arc. So a circumference has 2Pi radians. Don´t ask me why we need this for. I can´t remeber.

Hi. Limited by the arc. Normally applies to the angle. The radian is used in engineering and other fields. One radian is the angle between two lines extending from the center of a circle such that the length of the arc (part of the circle) is equal in length to the line length.

First of all you understand what is an angle
It is the meassure of inclination between the two lines.
Suppose I have to meassure the inclination between two radii
drawn from the centre of the circle.
SAY it is X radians
NOW we say the circular arc between the two end of radii
SUBTEND "X" radian
LET us now define the quantity of radian
IF the length of the circular is equal to one radius unit
then we say the angle subtended by the arc is equal to
ONE RADIAN.
e.g. circumference of a circle = radius * 2 pi
= 2(pi)r
because angle subtended by the full circle = 2(pi) radian

connected by.

the quote defines a "radian", which is a way to measure angles (other than "degrees"). draw two radius-es and connect them, but make sure they're far enough apart that the line connecting them is the same length as them and is curved (so it's part of the circle), then the angle inside at the center is one radian.

in stupid icons, you're aiming to draw this: <)
in your circle, where the < are two radi, and the ) is part of the outside edge of the circle, and is the same length as the radius.
