Yes I do find it very strange but it doesn't surprise me either. I don't think war is ever justified unless it's for self defense. There are usually too many other options that can be intelligently pursued. I think some people prefer war over peace maybe because they see it as a form of power and control. Others might prefer it just by mere hatred of others, maybe even of themselves. I find it strange reading some of the questions and answers on here how fast some people are to jump to the WAR solution to solve every problem. It's pretty scary actually.

Pacifism is, on the surface, noble. But pacifism rewards the aggresive party.

But war has it's own deterrent. It is hard to capture territory, but easier to defend it. War doesn't favor the aggressive party, but it favors the defender.

Note that nonviolence can, in some cases, be overwhelming, and replace war. For example, the Indian Salt March overwhelmed the British in India like no conflict could.

But taking the Hezbollah-Israel-Lebanon conflict as an example, Israel has never been rewarded for its cease-fire agreements, or its restraint in the counterattack of terrorists. Hezbollah, on the other hand, is rewarded by the opportunity to re-arm, and rebuild. To an aggressive party, the only reason for a cease-fire is to prepare for war again, not to prepare to end the war.

Yes. I think in some odd way a lot of people crave conflict. You see it on a very small scale in daily life: school bullies, gangs, etc. - these people aren't in it for anything but the turmoil. Peace would bring along the possibility of contentment, and that's a state many seem to be resistant to.

war is not preferable to war, but it is more profitable. check you history. wars have always been about profit, re election or misdirection. getting the public to look at something other than the latest mistake made by the administration. 9/11 for instance.
the war in Iraq was to distract the American public from the fact that our government was involved in that heinous act of terrorism.
get your head out of the sand and look at the information available on the Internet about 9/11. more and more people are learning the truth but I'm afraid the current administration will be long gone before the truth come out.

Unfortunately it is in our nature to fight, we are simply made that way. To believe that all our efforts combined can provide some form of constant "peace" in our world with everybody being happy is just naive. Peace is fleeting, war is constant.

People unable to communicate chose to fight and overcome opposition. It is the unwillingness and patience to talk and talk and talk. Here in America we have a fast paced life and want results fast. It may take months of talks to avoid war, losing patience folks will say bomb them. Of course as long as they talk NOBODY IS FIGHTING AND DYING..

Sometimes the only way to gain peace is to go to war.contrary to what the liberals at Starbucks say, talking to 12th century barbarians will not make them quit trying to kill us infidels.

You cannot take FIGHT nor WAR away from the human heart. If you want humans to stop fighting each other, then you will have to make them fight together a common enemy.

When the islamofascists make it plain to you that you have to die or obey them, there isn't much room for peace until they are gone.

Allowing Iran to build nuclear bombs isn't a very good idea, your peace won't last long that way either.
