Everyone learns in different ways. You need to experiment what works well for you. Some people come up with sayings that help you remember key information i.e. first letter of the word relates to what you are studying. Other people remember better by reading out loud or rewriting sections.
i'm of the writing out key sections. if i haven't written it down and just read it then I won't retain it.

Some journalists are keeping some kind of electronic database with information cookies and valuable resources:
Title - description - resources
Then to search for those notes in our modern times is fast like a flash!
You could even use a blog! and a lot of people will be grateful!

The three R's: read it, (w)rite it, rote (memorize).
Read it several times to be sure you understand what you have read, take lots of notes on the points your teacher considers important as well as the ones you think are important, make flash cards and have someone quiz you on them. Memorize small amounts of material at a time, and then utilize the flashcards to keep it fresh in your mind.
I did this all through college, and I graduated Magna *** Laude.

You are more likely to remember a peice of information if you read it, write it, speak it and hear it. Make sure you do all 4 for every new bit of info and you should be able to recall it better
