Stever Irwin interacted with some of the most deadliest animals on earth. His death is sad yes, but shocking? That's like being shocked by a pack a day smoker who died of lung cancer.

I think death is always something shocking. And I hope will continue being shocking because the opposite would show the worse thing that can happen... indifference.
Someone said that the opposite of love is not hate... it is indifference.
So if you are unable to feel shocked by the death of some human being you should start asking yourself why is it like that...
The media is also responsible for our indifference... each day we hear about death and disaster...

You dumb a s s. Can't you see the irony in Irwin's death? Yes, he frequently interacted with dangerous creatures and often cheated death. However, he was killed while filming a children's special by a relatively gentle creature. Steve Irwin was a great personality, a fantastic entertainer and a super animal advocate. His death is truly a great loss to us all.

I agree, why is everyone so shocked? *gives question thumbs up* I heard about it around 3 am this morning, and I really didn't care too much. A lot of people just think he was a great and fun guy, I guess. I didn't like him very much. Not after he took in his one-year-old son with him to feed alligators, anyway. That was incredibly stupid, even if no one got hurt. But eh, maybe that's me?

Well I think it's because most people thought he'd be taken down by a deadly snake or croc or something bigger than a Stingray.
That's the shock part.

The reality is that millions tune into Animal Planet and he was one of the most popular celebrities on this planet itself. He was too young to die, but he did die doing what he loved.

I was just shocked about what killed him!.... I mean he worked with crocks and has had some really close encounters with them...A lot of people like me thought that he was going to get eaten by an alligator or something....But by a stingray???? Come on....I read that many people that get punctured with the sting survive...But the thing that shocked me the most was that it was straight through the heart....WOW!

It was shocking because of the "suspense" Yes it was horrible, and very sad, but what was "shocking" was having it happen yesterday (or whenever it happened this past weekend) u knew it would happen one day, but u didnt know what day that would be. also, he had a very young daugther and he was only 44, very sad

fairly short life and the child wont have a father

I was shocked because he seemed invincible because of all the dangerous situations he was in and had never gotten killed yet. I thought maybe one day a croc would get him, but the shock was that a stingray got him and they're not known to be vicious or to attack people.

Well, it was a freak accident i mean not that many poeple die from a sting ray. Very few people actually die from the sting, the only real reason he died was because it hit his heart. Plus everyone expected him to get eatten by a crocodile or bit by a deadly snake, not killed but a freakin sting ray.

he put himself in danger on a daily basis. it hard for people to grasp the death of most people in the spotlight. he died doing what he loved, working with deadly animals. the reason he was there was to film a documentary called "oceans deadliest". i just feel for his wife and two small children. RIP crocodile hunter

Probably because hes been in the business for years and years and had a lot of experience in dealing with animals, and nothings happened to him until now. I also thought it was a hoax when I first heard it. Other people are probably surprised because they thought it was fake too.
