It would depend on the style you're going for. MAC offers a more showy, run-way model type makeup...great for parties. The eye-liner is amazing, it goes on with no problem.
However, Lancome is really good with incorporating a natural look with spunk added to it. I used them for my prom and it stayed on all night without needing retouching.
So it all depends on you =)

For most makeups, yes...but I like Lancome's lotions and moisturizers better.
