I always wash my dress shirts with dress shirts in COLD water and NEVER dry them in a dryer....always line dry your dress shirts and iron them....many of my shirts are 5 to 7 years old now and look as sharp as the day I bought them.
Dress slacks should be washed with dress slack and hung upsided down by the bottoms....just clip the bottom of the slacks together, AFTER you match up the seams to a hanger; once again line dry and do not dry in a dryer....
I use Cheer colour saver....I only dry clean my winter flannel shirts, because they tend to pill...this will save them from doing so......
One thing to remember....once you dry clean something, DO NOT wash it in the machine....it is not good for the fabric....so my dry cleaner tells me....

RE:
New to cleaning dress shirts?
I have expensive dress shirts for work and I normally only wash them every two weeks because they don't get dirty that much.
I've noticed in the past my shirts seem worn out when using the wash and dryer, I used cold water and Tide Cold Water detergent.
-Should I dry clean?
-Should I...

I used to send my husband's shirts to the cleaners, but that can be costly. I recommend washing them with Woolite on gentle cycle, hang-dry then when they are just about dry, put them in the dryer for about 5 minutes on low heat. This will give you crisp "new looking" shirts without the hassle of ironing or the expense of dry cleaning. Always remove them from the dryer promptly to avoid wrinkles.

If your going to wash your shirt do it by them selves colors with colors and whites with whites only.
I recamend a gentle detergent just for them-woolite
Wash them on a delacate cycle this will help with the worn look ,always in cold water and just fluff dry them about 15 min to get the wrinkles out then put them on a hanger and hang on your shower rod (if thats the only place you have) to finish drying .
Its a little more work but it really is worth it. I do this and my blouses are always like new looking.

Seperately and use delicate cycles. Be careful on using too much heat.
If you really want to do it yourself instead of letting the dry cleaner do it. I suggest getting a steamer of some sort because you will be gauranteed to get many wrinkles. Use iron on low heat to press.
