A common misconception of evolution is that is goal orientated. That it will eventually produce a top of the line animal, and all those that came before die out. The truth is, Evolution simply describes a process whereby animals become adapted to the environment to which they live. Adaptations that may or may not serve for their survival if change occurs.

It really comes down to the forces of natural selection that life responds too. Humans are believed to have evolved from a group of apes that had become isolated in a grassland environment - where walking upright also meant being able to run from predators faster than walking on all fours. As our ancestor's began to walk upright, they also began to develop tools and eventually turned the tables on the predators that formerly hunted them. Other Apes and monkeys however did not experience the same evolutionary forces that lead to our development, and therefore still exist as they are, but not necessarily as they were back in the time of our ancestors.

Coz the apes that we evolved from are not the apes you see in the zoo! We are not the only reason the universe is here. Life is. It just is. Simple as that. And evolution is just a word to describe the process of that life adapting to it's environment.

Your question is entirely homo-centric and misses the whole point of evolution. You were not once a chimp! They are as much 'modern evolved apes' as we are. They just evolved to fit a slightly different ecological niche.
Hard to see this too clearly as we have pretty much destroyed all of the 'ecological niches' over the last 200 years. Billions of years of evolution kicked over and stamped out in an ecological eye-blink. Nice work, sapiens!

The world didn't evolve from apes.

However, humans evolved from a primate from which apes also evolved. We did not evolve from gorillas, chimps, gibbons, bonobos, orangutans, or anything that currently exists. Millions of years ago, the great apes we currently know branched off of an ancient primate species and evolved. That ancient primate species continued to evolve into who we are today.

This question is asked frequently on Yahoo Answers and is easily answerable via any scientific primate evolution book and via any evolution website. I'll provide you with a few. : )

The "world" didn't evolve from apes. Humans probably did though.

We evolved from ape-like creatures, and so did modern day apes. We evolved in different ways to fill different niches. We are all still evolving, so one day, there may be no apes at all!

If by 'the world' you mean humans, humans did not evolve from apes, but humans and apes evolved divergently from the same distant ancestor.

We did not evolve from apes. Apes and humans evolved from the same common ancestor (who no longer exists).

Same reason why there are several sub-species of Ape. One branch split and evolved into Humans. Plain and simple.

Try reading a book on evolution ! It will tell you we have a "common ancestor", not that we came from apes / monkeys ! This is a made up LIE invented by Chirstians...BTW, we share over 95% of DNA with apes ! You can find all of this at your nearest library.
