because they all messed things up, and they always blamed poor Gilligan for messing things up, they all made him do most of the work and that was not fair, I always felt sorry for Gilligan..

Because the moron "Gilligan" always screwed everything up!!! Plus, if they got off the island too soon or too easily, there would have been no show.
