why not just switch it so that in england for example when you say soccer you mean american football and when you say football you mean football? when you come to the states all you have to do is take the oppoosite into account...

yea i agree, soccer should just be football and american football shouold've been soccer.......but its all said and done so it doesn't really matter.

American football was established before association football. In those days, there was a greater emphasis on kicking the ball in order to advance it toward the end zones. It has evolved into a pass first, run second, kick third strategy. An Englishman by the last name of Brown decided that association football needed to be different and coined the term "soccer" that continues to be marketed under that name by the powers that be in Europe. Basically, we didn’t need to name it soccer because we already had football. And it isn’t necessary to dispute me, look it up....

bc the rest of the world calls it football and it would just be too confusing!

They won't like the sound of soccer because the sound that "soccer" makes is a "pus*y" sound that have been implanted into their brains for years.

isn't it funny how "foot"ball in the states is the description of a sport where the players mostly use their hands?
