They can make or break a movie with two words, there must be a lot of pressure on them to bend their opinon. Tens of millions hang on their words.

The film producer of a movie can pay them to use some of their comments for their movie. If E & R give a bad review, the producer can get permission from them to alter their comment for their movie advertisements. For example, if E & R write in their column...

"Thumbs up. A dull and predictable yet sometimes interesting film."

...the producer can get permission to use this...

"THUMBS UP! A(n)... interesting film!"

No..... never..... I am 100%, totally, positively, absolutely sure that no one in the movie industry would sell themselves to the highest bidder. Positively never. Absolutely, positively, probably never.

I personally think that they few and rate the movies as they see them.

If they got caught, thier career would be through, so I doubt the would do it.
