I bought a 50yo house and the previous owner had some fragrants soaps and such in the wooden bathroom drawers and I really want to rid of the odor.

Not defending the smoker. Sometimes the glue in old furniture will small very much like tobacco smoke. To get rid of any unpleasant odor in a closed aria try sprinkling cinnamon in the drawers or closet floors. Please believe me when I tell you that cinnamon can make a horse trailer smell like an apple pie. Good luck.

Sometimes just plain vinegar and water will neutralize a smell. You can also squeeze some lemon in there as well. Wipe down and leave in sun for awhile. Or wipe down and air out with a fan.

take the drawers out clean them very good and let them air out for a day.

If that doesn't work find a smell you like and replace it. Such as a nice talc powder or some wood oil or something that you prefer that would cover the left over smell after you clean them out.

I have had success removing odors from wooden surfaces by spreading a generous amount of baking soda over the entire area and leaving it for a period of time. The time will depend on how strong the smell is and the amount of substance in the wood. Generally, the smell has disappeared for me in from one to three day.

You can also try wadding up newspapers and closing them in the drawers. They will absorb the odor - at least that works for me in food containers...
