The human somatic cells have 44 autosomes and 2 sex chromosomes.

For the autosomes you have one copy of one type coming from each parent, therefore 22 different types.

For a male you have 2 different sex chromosomes (XY)so you have in total 22+2= 24 different types of DNA molecules.

For a female you have 2 similar sex chromosomes (XX) so you will have 22+1=23 different types of DNA molecules.

In humans, each cell normally contains 23 pairs of chromosomes, for a total of 46. Twenty-two of these pairs, called autosomes, look the same in both males and females. The 23rd pair, the sex chromosomes, differ between males and females. Females have two copies of the X chromosome, while males have one X and one Y chromosome.
