I'd appreciate if you guys could tell me/lead me to a site about how the markets have been performing. for the past year. Which sectors have been strong? Which sectors have been underperforming? Any specific reasons why?

Yahoo Finance provides current and historical quotes for the major indicies like the DOW and the NASDAQ.
Oil and gas have been doing well
Automotive and housing are down
The price of oil helps the oil companies and hurts automotive.
Higher interest rates have hurt housing as mortgage rates have increased.

Sorry, I can't help very much. But I do know that our markets haven't been good.....inflation is fairly high. *shrug*
