I have not read I DON'T WANT TO BE CRAZY by Samantha Schutz...but it's definitely on my list of books I really want to read. The description of it made it sound so interesting....

But if you like the poetry aspect of it...Sonya Sones is a great writer. Her "verse novels" are very good. The first one she wrote is Stop Pretending What Happened When My Big Sister Went Crazy. The second is my personal favorite, What My Mother Doesn't Know...and the third is ONE OF THOSE HIDEOUS BOOKS WHERE THE MOTHER DIES. The first and third blend in some darker emotions with humor...so you really have a huge range of emotion from sarcasm, anger, fear, grief, anxiety, etc...along with happiness, love, crushes, and life in general. The second book is definitely lighter in tone and mood. Anyway, all of them are great.

If you're looking for nonfiction poetry then My Father's Summers: A Daughter's Memoirs...by Kathi Appelt is really great. Again a wide range of emotion as the author ages and matures through the book. She's recalling her life from her first memories to her teenage years...so you can expect a lot of variety.

These sites might be of some use. The first one lets you type in the title and author of a book you like and brings back results that other users feel are similar. But since your book is so new (July 2006) I'm not sure if it would be part of the system.
