this is another great example of rules gone wrong - never listen to generic rules like 'autumns should wear this' or 'blondes should wear that' those are usually only made for ideal autumns or blondes, or whatevers. For your eyes I'd try grey, just to see how it reacts - usually bright colors advance when put by a nuetral. Also the best compliment for a color is it's opposite Green=red; which in makeup translates to the brown family. I find that once you get ahold of your complementary color the bast everyday 'color pop' is to use that color on the lid, then a neutral not far from your skin tone from the brow line to the crease and finish off with a liner in the same color family as your eyes. This makes it glamorous without being overdone.

I love makeup so I experiment a lot, I think you should try experimenting with all kinds of colors, until you find the right one. I would have said purple, until I read the detail to your question, but now I'm thinking maybe a subtle gold, or maybe a pink, brown, or light shimmery green. I go to jewel to get my makeup, and they have a clearance section at mine, for 99 cents I can get those great colorgirl eyeshadows, with 3 eyeshadows all different shades but the same color, maybe you could try that. Good luck!!!

I've got green eyes too and hate purple eye shadows and liner. I like using browns of all shades, from a deep bronze (for night) to a light taupe color (for day). I also keep it as simple as possible.....really no need to use more than 1 or 2 shadows and I never apply eye shadow next to my eyelashes. I only apply in the crease and above that way it accents my eyes but it's not the only thing you see when you look at me. Good luck!!

I think both of the suggestions above are good. I have hazel eyes too and I used to use purples, but I always went for a very light shade. You don't have to use the dark shades. Also, you can just put it in the crease of your eye rather than the whole lid. Try brushing a little of your blush over your eyelids and then the eye shadow shade in the crease and see what you think about that.

You can use purples but dont put it all the way up your eyelid, like to your eyebrows. Use the purple on the lowest part to the crease, then take a silver or cream to blend it. I use black eyeshadow and silver, looks great gives it that smokey look.

line your eyes with purple liner (only around the rims - tops and bottoms.
On your upper lid area ONLY, put a dusting of plum shadow.
In the crease of your eye, use a darker plum shadow if you want a dramatic effect, lighter if you want a less dramatic effect.
I also like browns instead of plums.

I have really green eyes (naturally) and I like to use shimmery beiges (spell right?) light coffee browns with sparkles and nude type pinks. I also like gels with gold flecks in them. They say that if you use these colors it brings out the color of your eyes.

Switch the plum to your eyeliner and then try gold or light brown to play up your eyes and don't forget mascara!

it also depends on your skin color. my suggestion would be to go to the mall and go to clinque. They do free color matches. Then they will try and get you to buy their items but you are not obligated to. The other makeup counters probably do it as well I have just been to clinque first hand. I have hazel eyes and they told me that browns are the best for my eyes and skin color.
