it drives me crazy trying to work out what has been ripped off. is there software that can compare music so i can name that tune and say nah nah nah nah nah to my duaghters.

Wish I could help you out there. I swear I knew of a program to compare music with, but I may just be going crazy. But alot of artists, especially rap and hip hop have been remaking classic rock songs. 80s sounding music is also making a comback, like The Killers and bands like that.

I could be way off the mark, but my best guess is that it has to do with mathematics and the number of ways a melody can be put together. There are only a certain number of musical notes on the scale (I am not a musician) and it would seem to me that there are only so many variations of those notes that would be possible to make.....so it makes sense that there would be songs that have familiar melodies. I am not a math person either, but I have thought of this question before, and it just makes sense to me.

Yeah, I've noticed that too. I'd don't know if there is software, maybe a website of ripped off songs. I tried to find one online but I couldn't find one, sorry.
