Intercourse is painful and burns terribly. I had breast cancer in 1999 and took Tomoxafine and now Femera, which is causing the problem. My oncologist does not approve but will give me a vagi ring if I insist.....though it will introduce small amounts of estrogen into my system and present a very small possibility of the breast cancer returning. Anyone out there face the same situation? I am 58, have a 42 yr old boyfriend who I have been with for 9 years and it is causing problems, thought he says evertyhing is all right, admits he is afraid of hurting me This whole thing must not be pleasant for him and is certainly a problem for me. Any suggestions?

I think you can get creams, that will help you...creams with the estrogen in them..this might be the answer you are looking for..http://www.susanlovemd.com/living/i_2_2_1_3.htm....minimal would probably work..or get some hot feeling ones at the drug store...I am sure that will help you..and a little glass of vino will help you relax...and you go girl lol.

I have this problem and am afraid of any hormone cause of cancer risk. Some hormone help is not as risky and my doctor thought the creams would help. Went to a female doctor and she was of little help. I think most help might be on internet, then go to Dr. and further the questioning. The issue with atrophy, is the vaginal walls are THIN and it's painful to have direct intercourse. This problem needs more help, wish the medical establishment would do more about this. I did read some of Jane Fonda's book about womens issues and she actually went into detail - I'm going to the library and check that book out ! Best to you.
