Have you ever noticed that when it sits (look when you buy it) it separates. The ball helps mix it, sort of like a build in stir stick. Take your bottle of nail polish and roll it between your hands (do not shake because it causes air bubbles which can mess up your nails)

Its to mix it because when you havent used a bottle of nail polish in a while, the oil separates from the pigments and you wont get an even coat.

This is for when The nail polish gets all clumpy or the oil seperates and goes to the top...that when you shake it to mix it all up again and make it usable. The ball helps to smooth everything out basically.

Because nail polish gets hard when not in use, so everytime you use it, you need to shake it to liquify the nail polish by the use of the small metal ball inside. :-)

Because they ran out of red balls.

It is used to mix the ingredients because they separate when they just sit in the bottle.

Not all of them do, usually the higher priced ones. It's to help mix it when you shake the bottle.

Its like a spray paint can. Its in there so the mixture does not thicken. It keeps it moving around so it is less likely to clog the nozzle as well.
