As far as I am concerned definitely not! For example Andrija Mohorovičić , the famous Croatian meteorologist and seismologist. He was the man that discovered that the earth was made up of layers, The crust, mantle and the core. It is from him we get the term "Moho".

Not many people are educated about the peoples of other countries, so unfortunately, I'm sure that your friend may be telling the truth. Most countries do instill some sort of stereotyping ideas about the other countries into the minds of their citizens so it's hard to avoid. I will tell you that I suppose I have this idea of Croatia of being a very poor country for some reason, although I hardly know the first thing about it. Although to me I don't think Croatia has a stupid connotation. In my country, that unlucky association would probably be attributed to Mongolia.

I have never met anyone from there so I would have no opinion on the matter. But I am from a state in the US where some people believe we are dumb and slow. (Forget that we do a ton of work for many corporations and NASA.) Well, I say let morons believe what they want to believe. People are different everywhere. Don't worry about what others think of you - you just live to have a good life.

No I don't imagine barbarian people when I think of Croatia. I think of soccer(football) because I hear my husband talk about their soccer team.

INTERESTING QUESTION allright .
(AND there.s nothing wrong with yr grammar!)
For good reasons "foreign" people "look" at
your BEHAVIOUR , LIKE you just like to
fight FOR THE HELL OF IT. (apart from
Kosovo/Albania) amongst yourself.
You dont have THAT to yourselves, as the
IRISH (all the same forefathers) do the SAME
(albeit on LUDRICOUS religous lines)
So , if you can Enlighten us (foreigners) WHY
IT SEEMS THAT WAY , please post us
another Question/Statement....
Sincerely, with my Sympathy ...
Orion Man...
