Please help me write my essay about my summer holidays. I just can't express it very well because i'm from Ukraine. In summer i played football, hung out with my friends also i went to the summer camp where i swam in the sea and sunbathed. I just ask you to write it correct. Please write the example of the essay because it is very important for me. I know that for you Americans it is very easy.

Where in the Ukraine are you from? If you are new to English, you're writing almost at native level (which isn't saying much, as most native English speakers are unfamiliar with the language, but I do mean it as a compliment nonetheless).

Okay, let's talk about the essay.

Trick #1: Focus more. Don't write about your entire summer. Pick an episode -- something that happened. (Is there a story you are already telling your friends and family? If so, you've had plenty of practice -- tell it again in your essay.)

Trick #2: Think over what happened and record as many specific details as you can -- names of people, places. Come up with lists describing every key person, place, or thing in the story.

Trick #3: You're probably more comfortable speaking than writing. So get a recording device, and tell your story to it -- or tell your story to a friend, and have someone tape it. Try to tell a good story; ham it up if you have to. Include crisp, specific details. Try to make the event come alive in the mind of your listener.

Trick #4: Listen to your story, and write down what you said.

Trick #5: Read your story aloud (to someone else, if possible). Listen for things that don't sound quite right. Trust your instincts -- if something doesn't sound right, tweak it until it does. Language is learned by ear, not by pen and paper, so your ear knows it better than you think it does.

Trick #6: Have someone else read your story to you. Any time the person trips up or has to stop and restart, make a note to yourself to take another look at that part. You will probably end up with a lot of notes.

Trick #7: Using your notes, revise the story until you're happy with the way it sounds when it's read aloud.

If you do those things, you should be fine.
