Hey, a friend of mine bought a 12 year old Delorean that was never registered. Yes, the company was out of business by then. It took months of red tape to clear this up. But you are not just an old car.

You should get your Mom (and Dad) to see an attorney. Be diligent about fixing this. Here's why

- you won't be able to drive legally
- you won't be able to go to school legally
- you won't be able to graduate
- you don't have an identity
- you don't have a right to work
- you won't be registered with Social Security
- you won't get credit
- you may be denied housing

So even if you intended to build a self-fulfilling life and enjoy being an American, you won't.

You will have a hard time getting one. 20 years ago, even home births were suppose to be registered with the state.

You should hire an attorney to work on this.

I would ask how you went to school, since they require a birth certificate. But most likely certified statements from people that knew of the birth and then also your school records.

I would like to offer you the following website - Arizona Department of Public Health - as a resource in solving your problem. This web page answers questions about home births and situations where no birth certificates were ever filed, and what you can do about it. Continue to scroll down and you'll see the application to different age groups. If I were in your situation, I would contact this agency by phone, correspondence, or in person (depending on where you are) to talk about the specifics of your situation and the most efficient way for you to take care of it.

you have contact the department of vital statistics and apply for a "Delayed Birth Certificate / Record" Usually you'll need the name of the mid-wife that delivered you, affidavits from relatives that may have witnessed the event, your baptismal certificate, school records and some type of proof of where your parents lived during the time of the event. You can usually do all this yourself once you contact the right department.
