the greed of the corporate big wigs wont allow for a true celebration of labor day. i don't buy the fact the country would be in chaos if we shut down for a day either. it wasn't that many years ago you couldn't find anything open on Sundays. we managed to not go crazy and riot in the streets because we couldn't to go to the store or spend our money for a day.

Because of the money--What else could it be?--I work a few hours every day to supplement my retirement check or else I'd literally be homeless and hungry. Still, I wouldn't want to live in any other country. USA is the best no matter what your economic condition.

We do what our bosses say and for those of us who need to pay bills we do what we must. Happy Labor Day dear (plus i value christmas and easter way more then all the other holidays together

another name for work is labor.... so I'm laboring. A better question is why are kids off from school on veterans day while the veterans are working?

Because an entire nation can't just stop for the day, jesus.
Can you imagine the chaos? No nurses, no doctors, firemen, the stock markets would collapse..its only you guys that actually 'celebrate' it, Europe and Japan would have a field day on an economic level

Because not everyone is a white collar worker. Who is going to be waiting on people who have to have a vacation away from home? Not everyone can get they days they want off. Health providers and resort workers rarely get it off.

I took the day off because, unlike commie libs, I work 50-60 hours a week. I'll bet that the libs who do work have the day off though!

there are no manufacturing companies anymore, today's businessmen don't even provide insurance for their employees, much less a freebie day,, it's just a party weekend for government employees,,, the jobless, and the wealthy,,,,
