Even if there is a rule saying you can't have something, can they legally take it and not give it back? What happens if there is no rule, and like the teacher just dosent want you to have something?

Why are people assuming that something was taken away from me? Nothing was taken away from me, just wanted to know.

If your parents showed up to collect your belongings, I would think the school would have little leg to stand on.

It depends on the item that was taken, also if the school is private or public. If there is no rule about it anywhere, it should not have been taken. If the teacher didn't want you to have it, either it was a distraction to other students, a hazard or the teacher was just plain jealous. Unless it was illegal, they have to give it back, maybe after class hours or something like that.

Yes they can.
Why would you take something to school if your told not to anyways?
When your in school, you are there to learn, not socialize, not use cell phones, not nothing, just learn.
Schools are required to give what ever is taken to parent when asked by Them, or at the last day of school.
Seems you learned a lesson there in school, and hopefully, on Answers too.

Yes, if it's written in the rules. Although sometimes teachers need a parent to demand something back before they'll actually do it. So ask your parents to help you out.

Unless it is something illegal, they can't keep it. Either you should have it returned at the end of the year, or get your parents to call the school and get it back.

I don't think so. They can keep it until the end of the year, but if your mom or someone went to school and asked for it back, I'm sure they'd have to give it to them.

They can take it, but they must either give it back (to your parents, on demand) or render payment (again to your parents, on demand) for its value.

But they can hold it until your parents come claim it, if it is against school rules.
