i really want to start writing songs, but when i try and write lyrics, i can never think of anything to write about, and when i do, i can never make it sound very poetic, just like im talking to someone. what can i do to write good lyrics/songs, and how can i find interesting things to write about. i dont really have any problems in my life, im just a normal kid, so i dont know what to write about.

First off you don't have to have problems in your life to be able to write lyrics. Trust me. I have so many ideas, songs, half songs, poems etc. It's just about always being aware. The ideas are out there. You just have to see them. Alot of times I get ideas just from a single sentence or word in my everyday life or a situation in someone elses life. Throw in a little imagination and there you have it. As far as making it sound poetic, start off with your storyline then go back and reword things to make them rhyme. You can say the same thing many different ways and still get the same point across. You can also go to thesarus.com and find words that are different but mean the same. Oh another good source for inspiration is the news. Not local news because they are crap, but cable news, ie. fox news. Anyway, good luck and let your mind wander....

You can either write stuff you know about from experience, or write about things that are of some sort of importance to current events...or wait a little while and live some more life...
