In an interview done by 60 minutes

(1) people are born gay/les. this is not only due to their sexual behaviour but their physiological attributes like the way they move and talk. Generally a gay is more efeminated whereas lesbians are more masculine.

(2)the level of hormone exposure while the baby is still in the womb also helps to determine a person's sexual orientation.

(3)the more older brothers a guy has the more likely he's gay but this does not apply to lesbians who have more older sisters. However this only applies to guys who are born right handed. (there is a strong correlation but this theory is yet to be proven).

(4) But there are several cases where identical twins, one of them is straight and the other one is gay. So how did this happen?

I want to know what you think on the above matter. you can choose to answer one or all four questions.

People are born as they are..simple as that. Gene expression is still an area of much to be learned. We don't need to know everything, it is enough that people are born as they are born. We cannot help being what we are, and we can be happy in our own skins. I certainly am, and I do not question whats and whys, for it really doesn't matter, does it? The real advantage of this research is to disarm the bible mongers who preach hate and are convinced that being gay is a choice...hogwash and simply ridiculous... about as stupid as those who espouse this line of illogic.

First off anything that comes out of CBS is suspect as blatantly false I mean look at the whole Dan Rather/Bush thing.
And what difference does it make how a person becomes homosexual it happens and it can not be helped. A person would not choose to be this way. I am bisexual and knew that from the time I was 5 or 6 I liked both sexes. I had two sisters no older brothers. And according to a hormone essay I had run about two years ago I have more testosterone than is normal for my age not less. The identical twin thing proves nothing it could just mean that it is an environmental chemical that activates a genetic response. People are born this way and weather people believe it or not no one here is going to be convinced one way or another. I did chose not to be gay I am g0y. G0ys are guys into other guys but not into anal sex or effeminate behavior. We follow biblical law in our relationships with other men. This makes us the kosher catches of the homosexual community.

yeah I have seen that too.People are born gay.Well twins don't share the same placenta so that may be why one twin has more feminine hormones than the other.Plus they did say it may be gneetics because they have four gay relatives.plus they were talking about the older brother effect..They showed the 9 year old twins who the boy with all the girl's stuff was said to be like that since 2.So if signs are shown from age 2 to 12.. It's so not a choice to be homosexual. Those who think it is,does not know much about homosexuality.I mean you raise your kids the exact same way.so its obviously not the outside environment.the womb environment makes more sense.

Actually, Eastern Medicine has a working theory one how someone is born gay/les or later becomes one.

In the first case, they body's energy (qi) is out of balance. Both males and females are Yin/Yang in nature. Normally, females are more Yin in nature and males are more Yang. However, if a female is born predominately Yang, rather than Yin, she will desplay a tendency towards being a lesbian. Males born more Yin than is usual will tend towards being gay. This can be corrected to some extent, if desired, by working to reverse the balance of the energy.

For those who later in life become gay/les, the case is different to an extent. Either they have made a conscious decision due to the experiences of life, or their energies have reversed. This reversal can be the result of an accident, poor diet and extreme stress. The first example is only correctable by the person, whereas the second can be corrected with treatment over time, if desired.

Just a different view, but one that makes more sense to me than anything else.

(1) There's a reason why I'm gay, and it's not for effeminate guys, and I'm kind of masculine, well nerdy...but I'm not femenine...

(2) That kind of makes sense, I have no idea if there is any truth to it.

(3) I guess there's a reason they call them theories.

(4) That's life!

a person is born with the choice of who they are atracted to, and the culture they are brought up in is usually how they adopt it.

Any person that goes to a catholic "reeducation camp" has come back straight as a floorboard. so its obviosly not something you are born with.

I read an article in Psychology today about the hormon thing, and you are supposed to tell by looking at your fingers, apparently I was born with alot of estrogen, so I have no idea what that makes me.

as for twins read above its not a born cause its an adopted attitude.

I believe people are born gay or lesbian. I have seen on t.v. an autopsy where they claimed there is an actual difference in brain structure. Has anyone else heard of this?

(4) Twins do not share the same umbilical cord nor the same placental sac. it is quite possible for one twin to be influenced by(or exposed to more) hormones more than the other.
