Yes it should work. I have a 20 connector motherboard and a 20+4 connector PSU. The 20+4 connector is actually in 2 parts, so the end 4 connections clip off to leave the other 20 - so it can be used for either kind of motherboard.

I don't know if all 20+4 PSUs are like that as mine is the only one I have seen, but I assume from that example that the main 20 connections are the same, so you could just ignore the 4.

Typically, but make a note it depends interly on the powerbox itself. If it doesn't work, you may need to downgrade to an older powerbox that just runs a 20 for its P1 connector. The best advice I can give is to try it and see.
