i think its it's stupid and the reason why so many americans and now a lot of the world are obese and overweight. the fast food businesses are promoting unhealthy lifestyles and food. also, they don't seem to care that at least 60% of americans are overweight and at least 15% are obese. why do you think they do that and what is your opinion about it?

Because people want it!! Our culture is about supersizing everything.

Also, in our culture its easier to blame the fast food joint then one's bad eating habits.

Americans are stupid, we are one of the most obese countries in the world. 65% of all americans are either obese or overweight!!

Over half of all diseases, even one's we are predisposed to, can be prevented with a healthy lifestyle. All of mom's friends are fat slobs and they all have heart problems, diabeties, and stuff like that.

I think eating is a personal responsibility. You can't expect a fast food company to take care of your health. If I have to eat out at fast food, I try to get the kid's meal or the healthiest salad. If you get a burger, take off the bread. No one forces you to buy high calorie soda, just get unsweet tea or better yet WATER. It's not that hard to figure out that if you eat a Jumbo Sized Double Cheeseburger Meal, Fries, and drink a 64 oz soda everyday from BurgerWorld or whatever and then refuse to excercise that you may end up with a weight problem. Don't blame the guy for trying to make money. They are restaurants, not babysitters or doctors.

By the way, I have found that it does cost a little bit more to eat heathly. Fresh veggies and such are a lot more pricey than processed foods. It's sad but true.

Why would they care about your health? They only care about making money and there is a lot of money in quick, somewhat tasty, unhealthy food. This actually is somewhat of a argument among a lot of people. Some people think that it is the restaurant's job to serve healthy food whild some people think that it is the consumer's job to decide what they think is healthy. Personally, I don't think it should be the restaurants job. I think it should definitely be up to the consumer to moniter what they put into their mouths every day. Everybody has different health needs...you notice that there isnt' any requirement that says fast food places have to have menu items available for diabetics, the lactose intolarant, vegetarians, etc... Everyone has to have someone to blame though. If they are overweight, of course it couldn't be their fault...it must be mcdonalds (or any other restaurant) fault. And its not just fast food...you don't think that if you go into a restaunt like Big Boy or something and order a Hamburger, fries and a milkshake that it doesnt' have just as many calories?

Look, I'm so tired of everyone trying to blame fast food joints for their obesity. They may be promoting unhealthy lifestyles, but they do not force you to pull in, park, and order the SuperDuper Huge Meal. They do not force you to eat it. Human beings need to start taking responsibility for their own actions and realize that they can make their own choices about what to eat. Fast food restaurants are a business. They are there to make money. If you don't like what they sell, then don't order it. I don't. Here's another idea... LEARN HOW TO COOK. EAT AT HOME. It's not that hard and it doesn't take that long. Don't call the pizza place at midnight wanting them to deliver 5 large pizzas to your 12 screaming kids and get mad when they tell you that they are closing in 5 minutes and you live in a trailer park that they don't deliver to after dark. Don't ask them what you are supposed to feed your kids, especially when the grocery store is open 24 hours and it's 5 minutes from where you live.

Nobody puts a gun to the customers' heads and tells them to eat at a fast food restaurant.

They obviously have a market for super size meals and junk food, otherwise, they wouldn't be selling as many of these combo meals as they do.

I have written to the three main CEO's of these fast food places, asking them why they cannot provide healthier foods, especially something in place of fries with a meal. Salad is NOT my idea of a side with my burger.

The most common answer I received back was to refer to their website for nutrition information and make my selections from there.

Obviously, they don't care what their customers think or anyone else for that matter.

These places are a staple for overly stressed single parents who have no time to cook due to demands of jobs, children, activities, etc..
And teenagers prefer these meals over home cooked ones.

I firmly believe, as in those who smoke cigarettes and drink themselves to death, and causing insurance rates to go up, that if someone wants to kill themselves from food and obesity, that is their choice.

No real offense meant, but stupid is hardly what term I'd use,,,sigh,,, Oh and BTW,,, It may be that some ingredients of a fast food meal are in fact "**S", but I doubt that can be proven.

There is one answer I can give however, that is completely valid. Well maybe it's a combo, or supersized answer,,,LOLOL.

Ask for water, juice, milk, tea, NO DRINK AT ALL!!!! Geez.

I've never been in a fast food place, or any eatery in fact, where I was either FORCED to take what was offered, or held at gunpoint to drink or eat anything served.

Beyond that your info is way off base. If you Eat a TRIPLE< DOUBLE

As long as consumers keep buying "super-sized" meals, restaurants will keep giving you that option. They won't quit selling them because people are becoming obese...they are making money!!

It's the consumers choice. If they want clogged arteries and all the other negative effects of fast food, then so be it.

The smaller meals are available, and cost less. What I find offensive is that someone can go on a campaign of eating nothing but McDonalds, find that it's extremely unhealthy (well, duh!) and then get the entire meal sizes downsized, even though people have to pay the same prices for them that they did before. If I want to buy a gigantic meal and make myself fat, it's my own problem. Take some responsibility for your own actions, folks!

having the drink to go with the meal is a marketing technique know as upselling. Why settle for just selling burgers if you can sell burgers, fries and drink in one transaction, therefore increasing your profit. I don't believe that just because they sell a meal you should buy them, if your really health concious, buy only those that you think is good for your diet, then bring your own water. Fast foods can't force you to buy their meals right?

How can anyone with any common sense blame the restaurant
for people getting fat ?
Don't order so much...
Buy diet sodas, tea or drink water...
That is the problem with society today..
Everyone is a victim and assumes no personal responsibility...
